Our Why

Keep Fighting was born from love, loss, and the promise to never stop showing up for others.

Ariel Gerena was a best friend to many of us. She was someone who always showed up, worked hard, loved hard, and was always someone we could count on. She was deeply rooted in her community and had a heart for the people around her.

When we lost Ariel to suicide, we were left with a pain and a lot of questions. The hardest part was knowing that someone who was always there for everyone else had been carrying a struggle that we couldn’t fully see.

We couldn’t change what happened to Ariel. We couldn’t bring her back. But we could choose what we did with the pain.

That choice became Keep Fighting.

Keep Fighting was created because no one should feel like they have to face their darkest moments alone. We believe that asking for help is a sign of strength, that conversations about mental health matter, and that sometimes simply showing up for someone can mean more than we realize.

Our mission is to create a community where people feel seen, heard, supported, and reminded that their life matters.

We fight for the person who is struggling in silence.

We fight for the person who doesn’t know how to ask for help.

We fight for the person who feels like they have to be strong for everyone else.

And we fight to make sure mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health.

Ariel’s life will always be part of the heart behind Keep Fighting. Her love, her strength, her dedication to her community, and the way she showed up for the people she cared about are what we choose to carry forward.

We started Keep Fighting because we lost someone we loved.

We continue Keep Fighting because we don’t want another family or friend to experience that loss.

This is our why.

For Ariel.

For our community.

For everyone who is still fighting.

Keep Fighting.
